The 30-day short-form test plan
A month is enough to learn whether organic short-form produces customers for you, if you set up measurement before the first post. This is the plan we use: what to instrument on day zero, what to post for four weeks, and how to read the result without fooling yourself.
What's inside
- A day-zero checklist: the measurement you can't add later.
- A four-week cadence that tests hooks separately from visuals.
- A one-page scorecard for each post: views, clicks, revenue.
- The decision rule for day 30: stop, keep going, or double down.

- Write down your baseline. Daily signups or sales for the last 30 days. Without it, uplift can't be measured later.
- One tracked link per post. Not per campaign. Use a link shortener with UTMs, or a tool that mints them for you.
- Carry the link through checkout. Check the UTM or click ID survives into Stripe or RevenueCat metadata. Test it with a real purchase.
- Test inside the app. Open each link from inside TikTok and Instagram on a real phone; in-app browsers break links that work in Safari.
- Write the allowed claims. Three to five things you can say about the product that are true and provable. Nothing else goes on screen.
Weeks 1–4: what to post
- Cadence: one post a day per account. Consistency matters more than volume for a test.
- Week 1, hooks: one visual, five different opening lines. Same everything else.
- Week 2, formats: the best two hooks across three formats (talking head, slideshow, screen recording).
- Week 3, buyers: the best hook and format, aimed at two different buyer descriptions.
- Week 4, repeat the winners with fresh visuals, to check a win wasn't a fluke.
The scorecard (one row per post)
| Post | Variable tested | Views | Link clicks | Signups / sales | Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | Hook A | ||||
| #2 | Hook B |
Day 30: the decision
- Stop if no post produced a click-through customer and your baseline didn't move.
- Keep going if a few posts produced customers but no pattern repeats yet. Run another month on the winners.
- Double down if the same hook or format produced customers in two separate weeks. That's a repeatable signal; add accounts and volume behind it.
Read clicks and revenue as a ranking, not a total: people who watch and buy later won't show up on any link, so the real effect is usually larger. Why views mislead.
